Chinatown

Chinatown is a building, strategy and negotiation game set in Chinatown, New York in the 1960s. The aim of the game is to build businesses within the 85 squares on the board, negotiating with other players to grow these companies to their maximum. Can you prove yourself to be a shrewd negotiator and outmuscle you opponents? The game comes with building cards - allowing you to own plots of land, with the ability to build on them, with shop tiles. These shops can be placed next to each other in order to earn more form them, but each shop has a maximum point, at which you are unable to earn anything more from it. This then means that astuteness must be employed - can you work out which building cards another player will need and make sure they end up having to pay you? Each round starts with every player being dealt a certain number of building cards and shop tiles. They must choose all but 2 that they have been given, and they can place these in front of them. At this point the trading begins. There are no rules to the trading - anything can be bought, sold, and exchanged. You can trade with as many people as you like and can jump into any trade whilst it takes place. There are no limits on the amount of trades taking place, and this phase ends when all players agree to stop. Next, shop tiles are placed on the board and income is earned from them.Once this process has been carried out six times (from 1965 to 1970), the game ends. The player with the most money come the end of 1970, is the winner.Player Count: 3-5Time: 60 minutesAge: 12+
