Codex Naturalis
The fabled monky Tybor Kwelein has started compiling a manuscript detailing the living species found within primary forests. It is your job to continue his work and assemble the manuscript in the best possible way. Codex Naturalis is a small card game that incorporates layering, hand management and order fulfilment into a condensed game that can be played in approximately 20 mins. It comes in a small tin that can easily fit into any game collection. Throughout the game you will be using your hand (of only three cards) in order to play resource cards and gold cards. The resource cards will give you access to the symbols in which you will need a certain amount (and combination of) in order to play the gold cards. The resource cards may also occasionally award you a single point. The symbols include purple insects, blue animals, green plants, and orange mushrooms. They may also include inkwells, scrolls and quills. The gold cards are for scoring. For example, they will use the symbols on display to score a set amount of points, give you a point for every inkwell/scroll/quill on display or score you points for every corner of another card you cover up when placing the card. You also have the option to play any of the cards in your hand face down. This opens up your play area more and gives you access to a permanent symbol that will never be covered up. There are also several common scoring objectives on display during the game and a private scoring condition for each player. These will be used for end of game scoring. These can get you bonus points for having coloured cards arranged in certain layouts or points for every grouping of symbols. The game ends after someone reaches 20 points and the round has been played out. Contents include: - 80 cards - 6 starting double-sided cards - 16 objective cards - 1 score track - 9 wooden tokens
